Northern Greece Tweetup #1

The first tweetup in Thessaloniki was quite a success. It's good to meet with interesting people and put a face behind an avatar.

Helmet Paint Project

I like by bike helmet, but it's a bit indifferent being all white, so
I decided to spice it up a bit. I'll try to paint on it with my oil
paints, although I don't know if that will work. But first, I need to
think of a design or theme.
 
Obviously I could paint it black, but then again it wouldn't be less
indifferent. My favorite color is blue, so I could paint various
shades of blue on it, but then again my bike is white / green so it
wouldn't be a good match.
 
Then I thought that since I wear it on my head, I could paint
something like an open lotus to resemble the "1000 petal lotus" of the
crown chakra (according to eastern traditions). I like the idea, so
I'll do a bit of a research on how other artists have represented
that.
 
In any case, even if the paint works on the helmet (I don't know what
kind of material it is, it's a Lazer helmet) the surface is quite
fragmented so it won't be easy to depict something in it's entirety,
but I'll do my best.

Oil Painting in Progress

This is my first attempt in a big-sized oil painting (60 x 100 cm). I have decided to share the progress of this painting with you over Web & Twitter, so I will be posting updates of the unfinished painting regularly. This is the first layer that I did just now.

I would love this work to be partly interactive, so feel free to leave a comment here or tweet me (@Karageorgakis) and I'll try to incorporate your thoughts about the painting onto the canvas.

Photography

My first HDR attempt. I uploaded this image to show the different shots that were merged to produce the final image. I was amazed at the results. You can check out a larger version of the final image on Flickr.

The images have been merged with Photomatix, then fine-tuned in Photoshop and Lightroom.

Can't wait to shoot more HDR!
